About Tonye
I am an Engineer. I have a first degree in Chemical Engineering and a second degree in Process Technology. Growing up, my dad always told me "if you know mathematics, everything else becomes simple". He was my first tutor and this sparked my interest in mathematics and geared me towards sciences in high school. In time, the curiosity of the application of numbers and formulas in everyday life led me to study courses in the Engineering field.

My teaching technique is student-centred. Both I and the student play an active role in the learning process. I make it light-hearted, making sure the students are comfortable enough to participate in the process.
A typical class will start with a brief reminder of what we know, probably from a previous class or in general. Then we can tackle the subject for the day. I usually like solving problems from first principles so you don't have to cram anything and it becomes a part of you. There will class exercises and solutions and at the end of the class an assignment that covers all we have learnt.
While in school, if I found it hard to grasp any topic, I would strive to understand it on my own or with help from others and I would picture myself in that position doing a better job than the teacher. Teaching is a passion of mine and I have done it on and off for more than 15years. Nothing gives me greater joy than seeing a student's eyes light up when they finally understand a topic.
My classes are meant for high school students and college students who still struggle with basic maths principles and advanced mathematics.
