About Harrison

Hi, I am a guitar teacher with over 8 years of experience and an Associate of Arts in Guitar Fundamentals. Much of my work involves coaching students for band auditions and helping them prepare with confidence. I also focus heavily on ensemble playing, since guitar often means playing well with others, not just alone.
Live performance dynamics are a big part of my lessons, and I help students understand how their playing changes in front of an audience. Stage presence matters just as much as technique, so we work on both together. Rhythmic tightness is something I pay close attention to, since a band only sounds as good as its timing.
I try to keep my teaching style encouraging and focused, so students feel supported while still being pushed to improve. Creative collaboration comes up often in our sessions, especially for students playing in bands or looking to join one. I want every student to walk into a group setting feeling prepared and confident.
Musical excellence in a group setting takes real teamwork, and that is something I care about deeply. I look forward to helping you grow as a guitarist, both as an individual player and as part of a band.

About the lesson

My methodology fosters creativity and structured musical ideas. Guitar is a great instrument for songwriting, and I make that a core part of my lessons. We work on songwriting on guitar from the very early stages, so students learn to turn simple ideas into full pieces.
I also guide students through lyrical composition, helping them match words to music in a way that feels natural. Chord progression choices are a big focus too, since the right progression can completely change the mood of a song. From there, we move into arranging acoustic pieces, so the final product feels complete and polished.
Some of my students are drawn to raw, emotional playing and want to explore blues style deeply, and I help them shape that feeling into original songs. Others are excited by big, energetic sounds and want their guitar work to feel powerful and expressive, so I push them to channel that energy into structured songwriting. In both cases, I encourage students to trust their instincts while building real technical skill.
Turning an idea into a finished song takes patience, and I stay with my students through that whole process. We'll craft your musical stories together.
