About the lesson

To get the most out of our time together you must first ask yourself - What do you want to achieve? As opposed to the rather old school approach of throwing classical notation at younger students who want to become the next Hendrix, I like to think that the aims, goals and desired outcome of the student are the most vital aspect to determine before anything else. I promote a relaxed, informal tutoring environment and go by the "practice makes perfect" ethos involving disciplined metronome practice. I offer catered lesson plans to each student's desired outcome and where they see themselves in a year to five years' time. My specialities include: Time Management & Discipline: How to ensure you get the most out of your practice routine. Tablature Exercises: I create custom exercises and licks based around the student's influences. Chords Knowledge: For both beginners, intermediate, and advanced players. Technique: Hone what I call the ''economy of motion'' to get the most out of your playing. Theory: Any & all levels of theory, particularly in application to part/songwriting Improvising: Approaching intermediate/advanced soloing technique Learn to play: For students that want to learn particular songs. Recording and Production: Guided production techniques so that you turn ideas into a physical format. Orchestration & Clip Writing: Utilising a chamber 32 piece orchestra I can teach you how to utilise counterpoint & harmony to create lush textures. Take your musicianship to the next level and always strive to keep pushing the envelope.

Jack is a great tutor because he lets me learn at my place, he always asks what type of muscle you want to learn and is flexible with the way he teaches.

Jack is a fun, great teacher. He has nurtured my child's interest in guitar to a passion. An inspiring learning style that my child easily engages with, wants to practice and looks forward to their lessons.
Jack is a forward thinking teacher who understands how to teach children. We follow his Rock Curriculum and in just a few lessons my child could already strum their favourite songs! Polite, professional, reliable. Highly recommend him.

I've been learning guitar with jack for several months now and he has really adapted my existing knowledge of music from 15 years of playing piano and helped me translate it on to guitar. In just a few months I have learnt to play along with a lot of my favourite songs and have learnt a number of different scales in order to begin improvising. Highly recommended!
