About Trent

Hey, I’m Trent! I’m a high school teacher, musician, surfer and snowboarder with a passion for creativity, adventure and music.

As a solo acoustic musician, I tour Western Australia and have also toured Australia with my band, King Blue. Through performing and writing music, I’ve developed a love for exploring different styles, learning new songs and finding creative ways to approach the guitar.

My lessons are all about making learning guitar fun, practical and inspiring. I use songs you love, enjoyable exercises and creative techniques to help you build confidence, develop your skills and discover your own musical style.

Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to take your playing to the next level, I want to help you fall in love with the instrument, explore new ways of understanding music and, most importantly, enjoy the process of learning and creating!

My goal is simple: help you learn to love playing the guitar.

As a touring musician and qualified high school teacher, I combine real-world performance experience with a relaxed, practical and creative approach to teaching.

Lessons are tailored to your ability, musical interests and goals. We can learn songs you love, develop your fingerpicking and timing, explore scales and music theory, or experiment with creative techniques to help you develop your own sound. For those interested in writing and recording, I can also introduce songwriting, original music creation and recording using Ableton Live.

I specialise in beginner to intermediate guitar, covering everything from the fundamentals of chords, rhythm, scales and technique through to more advanced acoustic styles. My particular interests include fingerstyle guitar, percussive lap guitar, harmonics and alternative playing techniques that allow you to create rich, layered sounds with a single instrument.

My approach is hands-on and engaging. Rather than simply working through exercises, we'll explore how each technique can be applied to real music. You'll develop practical skills, discover new ways to approach the guitar and have enjoyable exercises to practise between lessons.

With experience touring Australia and Western Australia, performing at Optus Stadium and releasing music that has accumulated over one million Spotify streams with my band, KingBlue, I can also share insights into live performance, songwriting and the journey of developing as a musician.

My background in education means I understand that everyone learns differently. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to expand your existing skills, I'll help you progress at a pace that suits you in a supportive, encouraging environment.

You don't need to be an expert to make great music. Bring your curiosity, a guitar and a few songs you love, and let's start building your skills, exploring your creativity and finding your sound.
