About Hui Pang

I’m Hui Pang, a violin and viola teacher and performer who trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Matthew Jones and Gary Pomeroy. I hold an FTCL diploma from Trinity, and my performance experience includes solo and chamber music, with appearances at venues including the Barbican Hall and Kew Gardens.

Alongside performing, I enjoy helping students find their own musical voice. Having taught children as young as six, I understand the importance of patience, clear explanations and expectations that suit the individual. I welcome questions and aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable tackling difficulties and hearing their progress.

My teaching draws on the care and attention I bring to my own playing. Whether you are starting from scratch, playing for enjoyment or preparing for an audition, I will take your goals seriously and help you work towards them with purpose. I want students to leave lessons knowing what they have achieved, what to practise next and how to approach it.

About the lesson

My aim is to help students understand their playing and know how to improve between lessons. I tailor lessons to your level, interests and goals, combining technical work with the music you want to play. We work on listening carefully, identifying what needs attention and finding practical ways to practise it.

Beginners develop the foundations of violin or viola playing alongside basic music theory, connecting what they read with what they hear and play. I have experience teaching children as young as six, and adapt the pace and explanations to each learner.

For intermediate and advanced students, lessons include more detailed work on technique and interpretation through your current repertoire. This can include school or amateur orchestra parts, Trinity and ABRSM graded exams, and preparation for conservatoire or orchestra auditions.

I trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and hold an FTCL diploma from Trinity. My experience as a solo and chamber musician informs my teaching, helping students connect technical skills with musical expression.

Sessions range from 30 minutes to two hours. Shorter sessions suit younger students who benefit from a manageable lesson length, or players wanting focused guidance with their practice. Longer sessions offer time for advanced players to explore a particular work in depth, examining technical challenges, interpretation and performance preparation. We can choose a lesson length that suits your concentration, experience and goals.
