About Rio Ysabelle
Hi, I’m Rio! I come from a Visual Design background and pivoted into UX, so I know what it’s like to shift into a new field. I help students and working professionals build confidence in tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Figma, while also learning how to actually think like a UX designer.
I worked professionally as a Graphic Designer for two years and have been a UX Intern for over a year, recently promoted to UX Designer in my senior year. I’ve also been accepted as a Designer Intern at IBM for Summer 2026.
Beyond technical skills, I love helping new designers and students who are just getting into UX with their portfolios, design reviews, and interviews. My goal is to meet you where you’re at, help you build confidence, and guide you toward discovering what makes you unique as a designer.

My lessons focus on practical and technical design skills, tailored to where each student is in their learning journey. I begin by assessing a student’s current level, goals, and challenges, then adapt each lesson to provide clear, actionable guidance (i.e. their proficiency with Adobe Programs, Figma, and Design Thinking). Sessions often include hands-on work, tool walkthroughs, and real-time feedback to help students build confidence and independence.
I specialize in supporting students with university assignments, design projects, and application processes, including portfolio reviews and project refinement. Whether you need help structuring a project, improving visual clarity, or preparing work for academic evaluation, my lessons are designed to be focused, supportive, and results-oriented.
Typical lessons look like:
- Discussing the scope of the task/project/exercise
- Going over the necessary technical skills required to complete the task
- Walking through the process step by step, so that the student understands how to execute.
- Interweaving Design Thinking Exercises where necessary
