About Aricah
I am seventeen and will be going to college for Secondary English Education with a double major in Special Education and a minor in EL.
I have experience with students who struggle with grammar and writing. Monday-Friday during the school year, I act as a teaching assistant in my English class. I give a short lesson at the beginning of class each day on whatever I notice my classmates need help with. Sometimes it's run-ons and fragments, and sometimes it's punctuation. Then, after my teacher instructs everyone on their tasks for the day, I walk around and help make sure everyone is on task, and I help whomever needs it. Usually, I help with their writing and answer any grammar questions they have.

I will create short formative assessments to see where my students are at. These assessments typically have no more than ten questions. With a larger group, I use what's referred to as scaffolding instruction or the 3-2-1 method. For more information, visit ginabenz.org. With one-on-one, I will change this to 2-1, meaning I will give a brief lesson, ask the student to reflect on what I've said, complete an activity, and then discuss it with me.
I genuinely care about my students and want nothing more than to help them. I want to help people who struggle with English grammar and writing, and I want to share my knowledge.
