About Brian
Hi students, I’m Brian, your friendly English tutor with a diploma in aerospace systems and management where I graduated top in my class and #2 in the cohort. While I understand you might be hesitant choosing a polytechnic graduate instead of a university or JC one, I have something that they don’t; international experience! Having studied alongside British students, my teaching style will attempt to reflect that of the UK teachers. A trait all too important if you’re in secondary school preparing for your O Levels. I’ll give you a teaser - the Rogerian Argument. Never heard of it? It’s one of the most powerful tools you can use to brainstorm for your argumentative and discursive essays, a technique that most Singaporean students begin to appreciate only for their General Papers.

While I would prefer face-to-face interactions with you, I’ll be more than happy to work with you through virtual platforms if that is your preference. I’m expecting students in Primary/Secondary schools and hence will tailor the lessons as per the syllabus. Beyond the normal syllabus, do anticipate a strong focus on generating ideas for essays and vocabularies that I believe will raise the standard of your paper and work. I have used these methods to aid my juniors with great effect and strongly believe you will gain something from it. A good lesson plan is typically 2 hours long once a week, though this is, of course, flexible.

Brian was my peer tutor during polytechnic. He was super helpful in guiding me through the formatting of the essay based assignments and taught me how to write more formally. He is also willing to help through late text messages which came in clutch when the due date 2 hours away around 10pm.

I will not charge for any overtime less than 30 minutes and will not charge anything when it comes to teaching materials. Students are more than welcome to show me their current textbooks for a more focused learning experience. The pack option applies only for non-virtual sessions.
