About Champa

I am a History graduate from North Bengal University with 25 years of private tutoring experience. Besides history, I have taught Bengali literature and language because of my proficiency in the subject. Examples of past students include:

South Point (High) School (Bengali, 9th - 12th standard)
Patha Bhavan (Bengali & History, 8th standard )
Better High School (Bengali, 11th - 12th standard)

I strive to make my students feel safe in my class. They can express their opinions about texts freely.
I encourage them to ask questions, write their thoughts in their own words confidently.
I maintain a strict non-negotiable diary with my students to document every lesson. Every class starts and ends with this diary.
Each month, I send a report of the student's performance to their parents with a plan of what needs to be done next.
When I was teaching in person, I used to organize small gatherings once in a few months for my students to socialize with each other over homecooked food!

About the lesson

- On the first class, I ask the student to read and explain in their own words an excerpt from one of their texts. Next, I ask the student to write a small paragraph on a common topic.
- Both these tests tell me the level and needs of the student.
- Both the student and I maintain a diary of next days' tasks. Every class starts with taking stock of those tasks.
- I provide many examples to give the student their familiar contexts while explaining concepts.
- My classes are all for school children.

- 11th & 12th standard: 600 INR/hour
- 9th & 10th standard: 500 INR/hour
- 6th, 7th & 8th standard: 470 INR/hour
- 3rd, 4th & 5th standard: 450 INR/hour

2. History (Bengali medium schools)
- 11th & 12th standard: 600 INR/hour
- 9th & 10th standard: 500 INR/hour
- 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th standard: 470 INR/hour

3. English (Bengali medium schools)
- 3rd, 4th, & 5th standard: 500 INR/hour
