About Golnar

Hi, my name is Golnar. I am a classical guitarist, ensemble artist, and passionate and patient teacher. I hold a Master of Arts degree from the Art University in Tehran, Iran. I also possess an Advanced Certificate of Performance from the Trinity College of Music in London, as well as a TVU Advanced Certificate in Theory of Music. I am a member of the Vancouver Classical Guitar Society's Ensemble (VCGS). I have participated in master classes with great musicians of the era, such as Lily Afshar and Thomas Kirchoff. Additionally, I have performed at various international festivals and have been teaching classical guitar for over 13 years. Currently, much of my time is devoted to teaching, performing, and recording. I have already released three albums: 1. "Rosette" (classical guitar solo), featuring a collection of classical guitar repertoire from all eras. 2. "Passing Life" (duet guitar and cello). 3. "Bella Ciao" (classical guitar solo). One of my main goals is to be a great source of inspiration for my students as they learn to play the guitar.

About the lesson

My private classes are fun, creative, and highly individualized according to the students' abilities, goals, and dreams. Students will learn many essential techniques of classical guitar, including chords and arpeggios, sight reading, fingerpicking, theory of music, and many of their favorite pieces. I also teach my students about the various styles of music and music history, introduce them to famous musicians, composers, and performers, as well as help them develop their own unique style of performance. In order to motivate and inspire my students, I play duets with them and encourage them to play with their friends, as well as organizing many ensembles and concerts. Furthermore, I always suggest to my students that one of the best ways they can discover and strengthen their weak points is by recording their practices.

I found Golnar via SuperProf when I was looking for a classical guitar teacher. I found her to be very kind, patient, and accommodating. She even took the extra time to source a new guitar for me. As I could play by ear but I couldn't read music, she taught me how to read the music, while also teaching me a classical piece by example so that I could enjoy playing a song while still learning my "ABC's". Whether you are a beginner or an advanced I would definitely recommend her as your teacher.
