About Musie

I am currently a high school math teacher in Nashville, Tennessee, and I love my job. I enjoy math and helping people achieve their goals. I have taught 7 seven years and tutored for the last 10 years. Being in the classroom brings me joy. However, there is something powerful about helping a student one-on-one. I enjoy seeing students' thought processes and watching them grow from session to session. I obtained an undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Vanderbilt. As a tutor and teacher, I have seen both sides of the coin when it comes to being a student who needed more of a challenge or a student who felt that they were missing some foundation. I also love sports and understand the tension that arises from being active outside of academics and having to create a balance.

About the lesson

I meet students where they are and try to help them achieve their goals. Creating a great relationship with my students and making manageable goals is an important first step.

I start by determining what needs to be done in the short term and making a plan to achieve it. Then, we focus on exceeding the student's expectations through challenging tasks or long-term desires.

What a lesson looks like will be different for each student. Some students have homework and a layout we follow, while others might need me to create homework or notes that complement what they have in school. I tailor my plan based on the individual student, and I do the same for test preparation.
