About Kaustav
My passion for teaching stems from both my parents being statistics Professors back in India. Living with them being bad at math was never an option. I have dyslexia so learning at the early stages of my life was hard but math helped me a lot. I found the more I practised math the better I got at it to my utter joy. Moving forward 5 years, my younger sister was my first student. Her Achilles heel is math or more so her Arithmophobia (the fear of numbers). She struggled a lot and my mother put me up with helping her out before her midterms. I found the joy of teaching from the significant improvement I could impart to my sister. Throughout my life in school and uni, I have helped a lot of people out with understanding and solving maths.

These are my steps:
Assessment and Goal Setting: Begin by assessing the student's current level of understanding and identifying their learning goals. This can be done through diagnostic tests, discussions, or reviewing previous coursework. Set clear, achievable objectives for the lesson based on the student's needs and abilities.
Concept Introduction: Introduce the main concept or topic of the lesson clearly and engagingly. Use visual aids, real-life examples, or analogies to make the concept more relatable and understandable to the student. Break down complex ideas into smaller, more manageable parts.
Interactive Learning: Foster active participation and engagement from the students throughout the lesson. Encourage them to ask questions, solve problems interactively, and articulate their thought process. Use probing questions to stimulate critical thinking and deeper understanding.
Guided Practice: Provide structured practice opportunities for the student to apply the newly introduced concepts. Guide them through example problems step-by-step, demonstrating problem-solving strategies and techniques. Offer immediate feedback and correction as needed to reinforce learning.
Independent Practice: Assign independent practice exercises for the student to work on outside of the tutoring session. These exercises should progressively increase in difficulty and complexity, allowing the student to reinforce their understanding and build confidence in their abilities.
Differentiated Instruction: Tailor the lesson to meet the individual learning needs and preferences of the student. Adapt the pace, level of difficulty, and teaching approach based on the student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. Provide additional support or challenges as necessary.
Technology Integration: Utilize technology tools and resources to enhance the learning experience. This could include interactive online tutorials, educational apps, digital simulations, or graphing calculators. Incorporate multimedia elements to make the lesson more dynamic and interactive.
Formative Assessment: Continuously assess the student's progress and understanding throughout the lesson. Use formative assessment strategies such as quizzes, exit tickets, or verbal check-ins to gauge comprehension and identify areas that require further review or reinforcement.
Feedback and Reflection: Provide constructive feedback to the student on their performance and progress. Highlight strengths and areas for improvement, and offer specific suggestions for how to enhance their understanding and skills. Encourage reflection on their learning process and strategies for improvement.
Closure and Review: Summarize the key concepts covered in the lesson and provide closure by tying everything together. Review any lingering questions or misconceptions, and preview what will be covered in future lessons. Encourage the students to reflect on what they've learned and how they can apply it in future contexts.
