About Jack
I am really passionate about math, science, technology, and education. I studied electrical and computer engineering at Princeton University. I have worked on projects at startups and academic labs on artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, and bioelectronic interfaces. Outside of work and education, I love to hike and travel.

The key to a productive tutoring session is to understand the strengths and challenges of the student. I always begin each session by talking to the student to understand where they are struggling. I then find a problem within their assignments (or I come up with a problem) that gets at the heart of the student's challenges. I ask the student to explain their thought process and I ask lots of questions about why the student does each step. When the student has an incorrect assumption I ask them about the consequence of this assumption to let them realize why they are mistaken. I then show the student information that they are missing. My goal is to make the session an interactive dialogue rather than a lecture.
Often times, students are forced to memorize content during school. I believe that true understanding is infinitely more valuable that rote memorization. Each student is different. Some students need help each week with their homework while others need a well-defined multi-week curriculum. I work hard to help each student as best I can. I am happy to answer questions over email or messenger between tutoring sessions.
I studied electrical & computer engineering in college and use strong quantitative skills in my day job. I am comfortable tutoring any math subject.
