About Hayley
In addition to being a mathematician, I am also a violinist. In music, we constantly learn from each other and work toward a common goal. I try to bring this same spirit to my math teaching. I find I often learn new ways to approach problems from my students, and I encourage my students to articulate their thought processes out loud so we can work together to develop good problem-solving skills.

Math is a subject that applies to many areas of study and also to everyday life. I believe math is much more than just knowing how to use a calculator. The problem solving and critical thinking involved in math helps students develop the tools to succeed in many areas. I try to help my students see problems from many different angles to develop a comprehensive understanding of all mathematical concepts. I work to establish a positive learning environment for students because I believe the best learning comes from a place of emotional security while also encouraging educational risk-taking and curiosity.
