About Scott
I have been teaching and tutoring for twenty years in a variety of subjects, from music to thermodynamics, from english to calculus. My students have been as young as six and as old as eighty-two.
I have been told that I am easily approachable. I try to maintain a friendly attitude in lessons and tutoring sessions; people don't learn as well when they're anxious, or afraid of their teacher!
Having studied several disciplines (and struggled more with some than with others), I understand all about a learner's strengths and hardships. I am good at recognizing those things, listening to my students, and finding a plan to help them succeed that doesn't feel like detention.

I try to assess what my student needs and not just try to pound the standardized material into their skull. People are different, and so are learning styles!
I am very patient and will NEVER talk down to somebody for taking a little longer to get something. I know from experience that that is a huge detriment to learning.
I can quickly design problems appropriate to the needs of my student, and I can present them in a way that is not too abstract. The material needs to be applicable, after all.
I am offering my services to any student from middle school to college age who needs help with (or would like some better understanding of) physical sciences or mathematics.
