About Victoria

Hi! My name is Victoria Chen and I'm a graduate of the University of California Berkeley, with a double major between Environmental Economics and Policy & Society and Environment with a minor in Education. I have been tutoring and working with kids for more than 9 years! I started as a tutor through GoPeer, where I helped many students achieve their academic goals and build study habits. I work with kids aged 5-16 in reading, math, and algebra. On Superprof, I've taught more than 100 lessons ranging from in person to online, and at all school levels. Working as a teacher at the YMCA, I've had experience working and teaching with students of all ages and abilities. I teach with compassion, understanding, and patience. Volunteering as a teacher at my local Chinese School, I also have experience teaching a foreign language and have strong ties to my community.

About the lesson

Lessons consist of problems and work from students. I will supplement additional worksheets and problems as needed to help cement understanding of subject. As a tutor, I am flexible with hours, consistent with students, and dependable. My experience tutoring extends to parent-tutor communications as well. I am straightforward and understanding with my goals for the student, as well as progress updates. These lessons are catered towards - elementary students struggling with addition, subtraction, and understanding word problems - middle school students beginning to learn algebra that may need support - high schoolers delving into more complex math who are struggling, or need reinforcement on certain concepts outside of school.
