About Sofia
I am an artist living in London and I am passionate about teaching. I have been painting since 15 and have had solo and group shows worldwide, including Japan, America, China and the UK. I specialise in preparing students for art school, from Foundation, BA, MA and MFA applications to portfolio development, personal statements and interview preparation. I also offer longer-term mentorship for art students and practising artists.
My students have gained places at leading art schools, including the Slade, UAL and RCA, and I work with UK and international backgrounds.
I am a great listener who believes in brainstorming with students and helping their creativity come to life. I have four years of teaching experience, and I hold an MFA from the University of Oxford and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. I am patient, confident and committed to helping each student build a portfolio that feels truly their own.

Applying to art school can feel like a lot, so my job is to help you work out where your portfolio stands and where it needs to go. Whether you have a big body of work that needs editing or you're a few months out and starting from scratch, we'll set clear priorities and a plan that actually fits your timeline.
From there, we get into the work itself. We'll decide which pieces are your strongest, what to cut, and what to develop further, then shape it all into something that feels coherent and sounds like you. I tailor everything to the specific course and school you're applying to, so we'll look at what they really want to see, and I'll help you with personal statements, research, sketchbooks and interview practice so you can talk about your work with confidence.
I work with applicants to Foundation, BA/BFA and MA/MFA courses in the UK and abroad, and I also help with GCSE and A-Level Art coursework and exams. If you're already at university, have graduated or are a practising artist, I offer ongoing Fine Art mentorship as well."
