About Garrett
My name is Garrett Shook. I just graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in International Studies at the Croft Institute.
I don't intend to treat any clients as students, more so as equals. I am laid back, with less focus on shoving information down a student's throat, and more focus on making sure the student actually comprehends what they are learning.

My primary focus for tutoring is highlighting key differences between English and Japanese, such as SVO vs SOV sentence structure, the functions of particles in a sentence, and the importance of intonation and elongation of vowels. I have experience volunteering as a tutor for beginner and intermediate students of the Japanese language. I would say my services are mostly catered to first and second-year students in college, but I am willing to try and help anyone who needs assistance. I have a passion for Japanese culture and history, and find ways to integrate things like pop-culture into my lessons.
