I am a graduate of the CU Boulder Mathematics Department. I received my PhD in 2018 and worked in tech for 8 years. I can teach all levels of mathematics classes, including calculus and beyond.

About Jonathan
I believe my background in higher math helps me understand the material on a level of fluency that most other tutors don't have. And I believe my empathy and experience struggling with hard subjects helps me understand where you are in your journey. I also love watching people suddenly "get it" and I hope to share in that excitement with you.

I believe that it's only possible to learn math through actively engaging with the material and testing your assumptions through guided practice. I therefore take a Socratic approach to my teaching. I pose questions to get you to think and then let you lead the pace. Once I think you have found an insight, I will highlight and reinforce it with further exploration. If you start to get off track, then I will intervene gently and take a moment to understand what was the wrong assumption that led to this moment.
