About Vanessa
I don't teach statistics by throwing formulas at you. I start where you are. I ask questions, find the gaps in your understanding, and help you build from there.
Most graduate students are confused about what their analysis is actually asking and what their output is actually saying. That's a different problem than understanding math, and it's one I'm good at solving.
I'm a working quantitative analyst in public health; I use these methods in real research every day. When I sit with you, I'm not reciting a textbook. I'm helping you think like a researcher.

Every session starts the same way: I ask you what you understand, where you're stuck, and what you're trying to accomplish. From there we work together toward those common goals.
If you come with SPSS or R output you don't understand, we'll walk through it together until it makes sense in plain language. If you're stuck on your methods section, we'll work backwards from what your analysis actually did and build the narrative from there. If you're earlier in the process and trying to figure out which test to run, we'll talk through your research question until the answer becomes obvious.
Sessions are flexible and student-led. You bring the problem. I help you find your way through it.
