About Brendan

Hello! My name is Brendan, and I’m a professional marine engineer with a strong passion for maths and problem-solving. Throughout my career, maths has been the foundation of everything I do — from designing ships to calculating forces, stability, and real-world engineering challenges. I’ve decided to teach maths because I genuinely enjoy helping students understand ideas that once seemed confusing or intimidating. I know from experience that with the right explanation, any concept can become clear. Watching that moment when something “clicks” for a student is incredibly rewarding, and it’s why I love tutoring. My goal is to make maths approachable, logical, and even enjoyable. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance, and I’m here to support them step by step, at their own pace, until they feel confident and capable.

About the lesson

I focus on building genuine understanding rather than memorizing formulas. Every student learns differently, so I adapt each lesson to their level, pace, and goals. Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for exams, or pushing ahead, I break topics down into clear, manageable steps and explain concepts in a way that actually makes sense. During lessons, I use real examples, visual explanations and problem-solving techniques that build confidence and long-term skills. I encourage questions, work through mistakes calmly, and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable tackling difficult topics. My aim is simple: help students truly understand the “why” behind the math, improve their results, and feel more confident in their abilities.
