About Matthew
I have built a uniquely diverse career rooted in both education and the natural world. After spending several years as a high school teacher, I transitioned into the plant science industry, where I now apply my knowledge in a more specialized field. My professional journey reflects a deep, hands-on connection to agriculture and living systems, having worked across a wide range of roles—from florist to zookeeper. This blend of experiences highlights not only my adaptability but also a longstanding passion for plants, animals, and the environments they thrive in.

Hi, I’m Matthew! I’m really passionate about helping students feel more confident in what they’re learning—especially when it comes to plant science and animal science.
My approach to tutoring is pretty relaxed and flexible. Everyone learns differently, so I like to adjust my teaching style based on what works best for each student. I focus on breaking things down in a simple, easy-to-understand way and connecting topics to real-life examples, especially from agriculture and everyday life. I also like to keep lessons interactive so it feels more like a conversation than a lecture.
A typical session with me usually starts with a quick check-in to see what you’re working on or where you might be stuck. From there, we go through the material step by step, work through examples together, and make sure everything makes sense before moving on. I always try to end with a quick recap and tips to help you feel more confident on your own.
What sets me apart is that I’m patient and easy to talk to. I know it can be frustrating when something doesn’t click right away, so I try to create a comfortable space where you can ask questions without feeling stressed or judged.
My lessons are great for students at different levels—whether you’re just starting out, trying to keep up in class, or need extra help preparing for tests. If you’re studying plant science or animal science, I’d love to help you out!
