About Leah
Hi! I'm Leah, and I recently graduated from UCL with a BA (Hons) in History of Art. I believe that tutoring and additional learning should act as a bridge between the more rigid school structure, and the more casual ways one might consume new information. I aim for my sessions to be a conversational dialogue between tutor and tutee - creating a comfortable learning environment is what I believe to be the most important step to improving confidence in a student. Lessons are normally an hour long, split into a shorter 'warm up' exercise (such as a discussion of current affairs in the art or art business world, or feedback for a previous assignment), followed by an in-depth exploration of a case study/specified artist or theme/working through an essay plan together.
I aim for sessions to be conversational: I avoid a lecture-style teaching method as I want the student to feel confident in discussing topics with ease, as it propels their work's fluidity and depth. For History of Art, my students are typically at A-Level or at undergraduate level of study.
I have been tutoring for a year and a half, from ages 8-19, so I'm well versed in how to approach a session to a student of any age! I hold an enhanced DBS check.
