About Kristin
Hello! I graduated cum laude from UNC at Greensboro with a BA in Psychology and a minor in American Sign Language/Deaf Culture. Though I finished that degree, I've found that I never really wanted to stop learning-- I just finished up a certification with IBM for Data Analytics in May 2025, as well as several accounting classes at Spartanburg Community College in 2022 and 2023. I have a year's experience in tutoring English and digital storytelling, as well as a year's experience in mentoring and teaching study and test-taking skills. My work experience since that time has been full of on-the-job tutoring experience for topics as general as math and Microsoft Excel to topics as specific as Medicaid policy updates (phew!). I enjoy diving into the nitty-gritty of anything I'm learning and taking my tutees along with me, and I also love to make the topics as relatable as possible as I believe that's a great way to learn.

My typical tutee is a college student or working adult, but I enjoy working with middle schoolers and high schoolers as well and am happy to help them get a better handle on what they're learning. What I bring to our discussions is a passion for learning and explaining what I know. Whenever I'm explaining a topic, I like to find as many different ways to explain it as possible while relating the topic to something concrete or personal; we all have different learning styles and backgrounds, and I believe in using that to our own advantage!
