About Zack
Hi! My name is Zach, and I’m a recent graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a minor in Applied Sciences & Engineering. I have a strong background in the life sciences and enjoy helping students turn challenging material into concepts they can understand and apply with confidence.
As a tutor, I’m patient, approachable, and committed to adapting my teaching style to each student. I understand that asking questions and making mistakes are important parts of learning, so I strive to create a comfortable environment where students feel supported throughout the process.
Whether you’re preparing for an exam, struggling with a particular topic, or simply looking to strengthen your understanding of a subject, I’ll work with you to develop a plan that fits your goals and learning style. My goal is not just to help you get the right answer, but to help you develop the skills and confidence to tackle similar problems independently.

My approach to tutoring is centered around making difficult concepts easier to understand and helping students build confidence in their own abilities. I believe students learn best when they understand why something works rather than simply memorizing an answer. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s learning preferences, using clear explanations, examples, practice problems, and questions to identify and address areas of difficulty.
A typical lesson begins by reviewing the student’s current understanding of the material and identifying specific topics they want to improve. From there, I explain the concepts step-by-step, using real-world examples and visual explanations when helpful. We then work through practice problems together before transitioning to problems the student can solve independently. I finish lessons by reviewing the key takeaways and identifying what the student should focus on before the next session.
What sets me apart is my combination of a strong science background, hands-on experience, and a patient approach to teaching. I recently graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a minor in Applied Sciences & Engineering. My academic background has given me experience working with complex scientific concepts, while my hands-on work in fabrication and product development has strengthened my ability to approach problems from different perspectives. I understand that every student learns differently, and I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
