With years of experience helping students from kindergarten through 12th grade excel in English reading and grammar, I specialize in turning uncertainty into mastery. Whether you're preparing for state assessments, MAP tests, or college entrance exams like the SAT and ACT, I offer clear, effective strategies tailored to your level and learning style. My approach is both structured and supportive: I begin with a personalized assessment to pinpoint strengths and areas for growth, then design lessons that target core skills—reading comprehension, grammar rules, test strategies, and time management. Every session is built around your goals, whether that’s mastering commas or cracking the toughest reading passages. About the lesson

My teaching method is grounded in clarity, structure, and confidence-building. I use a diagnostic-first approach: I begin by assessing each student’s current reading comprehension and grammar skills through short passages and targeted exercises. Based on this, I customize the lesson sequence to address both foundational gaps and test-specific strategies.

For reading, I teach students how to break down passages by main idea, tone, inference, and structure using annotation, question prediction, and active reading methods. For grammar, I focus on building a mental grammar “toolkit” through rule-based instruction followed by application in real test questions. I emphasize pattern recognition, time management, and error analysis—skills that transfer across all standardized exams.

I also integrate visual aids, color-coding, and scaffolding for younger students, and timed drills and strategy comparisons for older students preparing for tests like the PSAT, SAT, ACT, or state benchmarks.
