About Ethan

Being a graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder has given me much experience in terms of both of my fields as well as teaching others. During my first year at University I signed up to be a learning assistant. At times I was tasked with leading classes. I taught physics 1 due to the fact that I already had the credits from high school. My professor who hired me thought I had a lot of promise due to my grades and the fact that in high school I was tasked with teaching my fellow students. The reason why is because I would stay after class, skip my lunch or use my free periods to learn more physics with my teacher, Mr. Hernandez. He taught me all of his calculus tricks and furthered my development as well as my understanding of physics all around, it was awesome and I loved it. That said, when students would come to the class to ask for help, my teacher would always tell them "go to Ethan first and if he can't figure it out then you come to me". Each of the students I taught would often say that I have a way of explaining things, that I was able to break things down in a way that anyone can understand and they were always very appreciative. At the end of my first year of teaching as an LA a review was given to my students to see how we did. Every single response I had was along the lines of "he is the best LA I've ever had even possibly the best teacher", "he really knows how to sit down with you and actually go over what you don't understand" and "if he doesn't explain it to you in a way that you can understand he'll change it for you and make sure that you truly grasp this topic and won't move on without you being 100% confident in yourself and your abilities". That was just such an amazing thing for me to read but that's why I know I will be a terrific fit for your tutoring needs.

About the lesson

I take the time with each student to go through the material and ensure that they understand the concepts. I do this by adjusting the way I explain the material, approaching it in different ways until I know that the information is fully absorbed. To ensure this, I give my students a question focused on the material and ask that they explain their thought process, if correct we move on, if not then I re-evaluate my teaching method and make adjustments until I am confident in my students abilities. My lessons are customizable for students from middle school to college. Topics ranging from basic MS science and math, HS algebra to graduate level differential geometry and HS level Physics to graduate level General Relativity.
