About Alp
Having lived and grown up in various cities around the globe, from Singapore to Istanbul, I had the singular opportunity of peeking in and absorbing a diverse mix of cultures and perspectives. Allowing me to meet and create friendships with individuals of different backgrounds and cultures, I realised the importance of diversity and conversation. Now that I have put my educational journey behind me, I want to able to still meet and help students!

Throughout High School, and now at university, I realise that the classes I most appreciate are not necessarily the ones I am most interested in, rather the ones where my teachers and professors foster and nurture debate and curiosity. I always try to bring this philosophy when teaching or counseling. To have had the chance to be mentored by exceptional tutors and individuals throughout my time as a student as well as during my internships, I greatly appreciate how much they have contributed to my personal growth. They would listen, provoke debate and teach me the importance of going the extra mile. These qualities and skills are, for me, the pivotal aspect of a student’s journey, ones which I will always strive to build with my students.
My experience at the International French School in London as a peer counselor/ tutor for the last two years of high school was mind-opening. It was my first time supporting students throughout their academic year, acting as an emotional support system when needed, but mostly teaching them how to engage with coursework in a holistic and pragmatic way. To have had the time and opportunity to get to know my students on a personal level allowed me to create individualised study plans, rather than take a ‘one size fits all approach’. This was key in approaching different student’s needs, and always adapting to their learning processes.
Having completed the rigorous and demanding French Baccalaureate program, in which my specialities were History, Geopolitics, Economics and English Literature, I believe that I have the skills and aptitude to help and encourage students. As a dynamic and confident communicator, I know I can bring the right attitude to our lessons, and will always encourage my students to think critically.
