About Talyn

I’m a dedicated pianist and educator with a Bachelor of Music degree from Sonoma State University, where I was honored as a Distinguished Graduate in the field of Classical Piano. My concentrations in Classical Piano Performance and Jazz Studies give me a well-rounded and versatile approach to teaching. With 18 years of teaching experience, I’ve worked with students of all ages and skill levels—from young beginners to advanced musicians. I’m especially passionate about music theory, harmony, and ear training, and I love helping students deepen their understanding of how music works. Whether I’m guiding someone through complex harmonic progressions, sharpening their aural skills, or demystifying chord structures, I tailor each lesson to fit their unique needs and goals. My teaching philosophy centers on building strong musical foundations, fostering creativity, and helping students develop confidence in their musicianship. I believe that a solid grasp of theory, combined with great rhythm and technique, enhances every aspect of playing, improvising, and composing. I strive to make even the most technical concepts accessible and engaging so that students not only improve, but truly enjoy the

About the lesson

I make learning piano and music theory fun. I am very thorough in my explanations and have a lot of performance experience. I studied jazz in college and can explain whatever you need to know about music theory. My passion is tying in music theory with learning piano as a way to better understand how music works and so you can think about and deconstruct your piece of music. Knowing music theory also helps with memorizing whatever piece you’re working on.

Perfect! Talyn is a great teacher I was struggling on Chopin etude op. 10 No. 4 and went from having poor technique to drastically improving and playing with little mistakes. She has a lot of patience and makes sure to explain the music in a way that’s easy and understandable while making sure you’re improving on your music journey I would recommend her 10/10 also her studio is very organized and clean.

Perfect! I started lessons at Allegro Piano Academy in October and having so much fun learning and feel I have advanced significantly these last weeks. I have never played an instrument before. Talyn is an outstanding instructor, she sticks with the lesson, is patient, and knows if you didn't practice. She will offer positive feedback if you perform well and she will make you do it over again if you don't.

All of my lessons have started on time and ended on time. I highly recommend Allegro Piano Academy.

My experience at Allegro has been great so far! Talyn, the instructor, has been patient, passionate, and very clear during each session on what I am learning. As a complete beginner, I was intimidated to learn, but each lesson you feel like you are building off the previous one, which leaves you feeling confident. The studio space is well designed, spacious and inspiring to play in.
