About Sophia
I graduated from the highly competitive Imperial College Computing course last summer, and since then have been a freelance software developer while working on my own startup. I have worked both full time and as a contractor for companies ranging from AI startups in the US and UK, to app developers, to private researchers.
Before becoming an engineer, teaching was my first love and I have volunteered in classrooms as well as working as a private tutor.
I scored A* in my A level maths and passed STEP to be accepted on to my course, and my understanding of maths has deepened through my highly technical degree and working life.

Hi, my name is Sophia!
In addition to working in industry as a software developer across a wide variety of fields, I have teaching experience at both primary, secondary and adult level. After tutoring maths and further maths privately at GCSE and A level, I have found fulfilment in my students' exam success!
I received an A* in my maths A levels and passed STEP to be accepted on to Imperial College's highly competitive computing course, which I graduated from last summer.
My approach draws from research on overlearning ((concealed information) and retrieval practice ((concealed information) to build pupils' long-term memory and transferable maths skills. This allows learning to persist outside of sessions, boosting their revision and classroom performance.
