About Alice
I'm Alice, a 26 year old PhD student at Nottingham. I did my undergrad in Cambridge and then a masters in Nottingham. I've tutored students since I was 16, including in an official capacity at the university of Nottingham where I received a teaching award. I currently study functional analysis, but I'm passionate about pure mathematics and problem solving as a whole.

I excelled in mathematics as a student and have 8 years of tutoring experience of both school students and undergraduates. Particularly, I have a keen understanding of exam setting and how to approach the intimidating questions set in university entrance exams and at university itself. I firmly believe that the most useful insight a tutor can provide is talking through student solutions, as this provides insight into gaps in student knowledge and mathematical writing that a lecture about the theory or reading notes will likely miss. Thus, a typical session would be one hour, in which we would discuss the students solutions to a problem sheet that I would set in advance, targeted to the student's learning goals.
