About Jamin
As an English and English Literature teacher, I am passionate about the subject because it fosters imagination, creativity, and language skills while promoting an appreciation for the arts. Additionally, it helps to develop emotional sensitivity, which is essential for personal growth and understanding.
My primary goal is to work collaboratively with my students to develop their imagination and creativity, which are crucial for improving writing, analysis, and reading skills. I believe that by working together, we can achieve a deeper understanding of the nature and uses of language in relation to audience and purpose. Furthermore, I aim to facilitate the development of evidence-based arguments and encourage creative and critical responses to literature in light of cultural values and literary history.
In my sessions, I strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages students to express themselves freely and without fear of judgment. I believe that every student has unique strengths and challenges, and I work to tailor my teaching approach to meet their individual needs. By doing so, I hope to inspire a lifelong love of learning and a deep appreciation for the power of language and literature.

Many schools prioritize imparting vast amounts of information to students, but this approach often falls short in fostering genuine understanding. As a tutor, my goal is to instill in my students a deep comprehension and confidence in the subject matter, particularly in literature, writing, and grammar. I believe that learning occurs in an environment of mutual respect, where students are encouraged to think critically and make connections on their own.
Through my experience, I have found that one-on-one tutoring is especially valuable because it allows me to address each student's unique barriers to learning, laying the foundation for a lasting understanding of the subject.
My teaching approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style, but my philosophy is centered on promoting independent thinking and using real-world examples whenever possible. I begin with topics that students are comfortable with and gradually progress to more complex areas as their confidence grows. I continuously check for understanding using questions and examples, rather than lecturing or asking students to memorize information.
To ensure that my students are well-prepared for exams, I focus on exam-style or past paper questions to practice and perfect their understanding and technique. I also place great emphasis on developing essential skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of grammar and literary devices.
I am a firm believer in the immense value of tutoring and take great pride in seeing my students reach their full potential.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Extensive and well thought out lesson plans for all subjects. In depth but not too much that becomes overbearing for students.
Her teaching style really made my son, who had English as one of his weaker subjects open up and become more creative and confident all round. He is now at the top of his class and is being given work for students in the above school year.
Pleasant to deal with and also teaches subjects that he doesn't get in school such as coding, engineering, critical thinking and economics - my son is 8 btw.
Would thoroughly recommend!View more recommendations
