When my current students say that they are dumb or that they don't get it, I tell them that they don't know it... YET. I make sure they know that they are not and no one is dumb; getting answers wrong simply means we need more support or to slow down your thinking so as not to skip steps in the learning process.

Science is a vocabulary rich subject and I ensure that foundation is at the forefront of learning. Pedagogical studies show that lessons should be kept to a maximum of 20 minutes as attention span for adults is limited. I break down concepts into less intimidating subject matter. Doing so, keeps the student encouraged to continue building progress. A growth mindset is something that can be greater developed as we learn more.
