Cassie was my American Sign Language teacher and mentor for 2 years and still continues to be my mentor now after I have graduated. She is patient, kind and extremely supportive of all her students and their goals. Without her teaching me the foundations of American Sign Language and taking the time to work with me one on one to further enrich my ASL skills, I would not be a fluent signer like I am today. Cassie does an extremely good job at meeting students where they are at and accommodating their individual needs and goals. If I had not had Cassie as my teacher/mentor I would not be the person I am today or where I am at today. As her student she provided me not only with one on one help but also gave me real world application experiences that I could attend to use my skills and become more fluent. With every student she ensures they are given a strong foundation of the language and a strong understanding of Deaf culture. Additionally, she is a large reason why I now am able to attend Gallaudet University, the only deaf university in the world.
