I usually do not like make kids by heart everything that is the textbook, I would make sure to make them understand the concept and then quiz them. I feel some students understand better with quizzes and some understand it better with projects/assignments. so I make sure to do my best to involve students' needs. I taught for two years and have taken private lessons in India as well. I teach students from year 1 to year 9. while teaching I make sure there isn't a lot of theory since it can get boring. also, I don't think a lot of homework helps kids. with that said I do make sure I am not too lenient and students learn a lot at the end of each session.
