About Carmen
I served as a teacher in Urban Middle and High Schools in the Kansas City Public Schools. I teach English, writing, history, social studies, and government.
EDUCATION: Undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice with a cognate in Juvenile justice.
Masters in Jurisprudence of American Law and Professional writing.
Graduated Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude
I am presently working on an Ed.S. in Community Care and Counseling – Trauma

The first thing I do is build a rapport with you, my student.
Tutoring is equally, if not more effective when I as the Tutor talk less. I encourage students to engage in systematic self-explanation because you as a student will score significantly higher than those in the unprompted condition, especially on higher-order assessment questions.
I offer lessons for middle (6th - 8th grade) and high school students in english, writing, history, social studies, and government. Lessons are personalized to meet you, the students, individual requirements.

I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the learning period, the tutee should be able to:
a. differentiate imaginative writing, technical writing, and creative writing.
b. express one’s emotions and ideas through writing and
c. write a simple journal entry through imaginative writing.
A. CONTENT STANDARD The tutee has an understanding of imaginative writing and other forms of writing.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD The tutee shall be able to write a simple journal entry through imaginative writing.
C. LEARNING COMPENTENCIES Differentiate imaginative wiring from other forms of writing and cuff creative ideas from experiences.
