About Soham

I'm a Computing and Software Systems student at the University of Melbourne with a genuine passion for mathematics, it's been my strongest subject for as long as I can remember, and I enjoy helping others find the same clarity and confidence with it that I have.

I know math can feel intimidating, especially at VCE level, so I focus on being patient, approachable, and easy to talk to.

There's no such thing as a silly question in my sessions, I'd much rather a student stop me to say they're lost than nod along and stay confused. I'm reliable, well-prepared for every lesson, and I take my students' goals seriously, whether that's passing a subject they're struggling with or chasing a top study score.

Having recently been through senior-level exams myself, I understand the pressure students are under and what actually works when it comes to preparation.

My aim is simple: to make math make sense, and to help you walk into your exams feeling ready.

About the lesson

I tutor math for students from Years 7 to 12, specializing in VCE Math Methods, Specialist Math, and General Math, as well as junior and IGCSE-level mathematics.

My approach is built on clear explanation rather than memorization. I break each problem into logical steps, work through plenty of examples together, and make sure you understand why a method works, so you can handle unfamiliar exam questions on your own, not just repeat what you've seen.

Every lesson is tailored to the topics you find hardest rather than following a fixed script, and I set targeted practice and past-exam questions between sessions to lock in progress.
Lessons run one-on-one and online, typically for 60 minutes, with a shared digital whiteboard so we can work through problems in real time. Longer or exam-intensive sessions can be arranged around assessment periods.

On qualifications: math has always been my strongest subject. I achieved an A* in A-Level Mathematics and an A* in Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics, alongside A*s in Physics and Chemistry, and I'm now studying Computing and Software Systems at the University of Melbourne. I currently tutor a Year 10 student in VCE Math Methods.
