About Sean
Hi! My name is Sean, and I’m a Grade 12 student in Surrey, BC with a strong background in mathematics, including the successful completion of Pre-Calculus 12. I have a solid understanding of the BC curriculum and firsthand experience with the challenges students face in math courses.
I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and truly understand what they’re learning, rather than just memorizing steps. Having recently taken these courses myself, I explain concepts in a clear, relatable way that makes math feel less overwhelming and more manageable.
I’m patient, organized, and professional in every session. I come prepared, tailor lessons to each student’s needs, and create a supportive environment where questions are always welcome. Whether a student needs help with homework, test preparation, or strengthening foundational skills, I’m committed to helping them succeed.
My goal as a tutor is not only to improve grades, but also to help students feel more confident and independent in math. I take pride in being reliable, respectful, and genuinely invested in my students’ progress.

As a tutor, I focus on clear explanations, patience, and adaptability. Since I recently completed Pre-Calculus 12 myself, I understand exactly where students tend to get stuck and how teachers in BC usually explain concepts. I break down complex ideas into simple, logical steps, using examples that are easy to relate to.
A typical session with me looks like this:
Check-in & goals – We quickly go over what the student is currently learning and what they find challenging.
Concept review – I explain the topic clearly, using examples similar to what they see in class.
Guided practice – We solve problems together, with me walking them through the reasoning step by step.
Independent practice – The student tries questions on their own while I help if needed.
Review & tips – We summarize key ideas and go over strategies for tests, quizzes, or homework.
What sets me apart is that I’m close in age and experience to the students I tutor. I’ve recently taken the same courses under the BC curriculum, so I know what teachers expect and how exams are structured. This makes my explanations more relatable and less intimidating. I also focus on building confidence, not just getting the right answer.
My lessons are best suited for:
Middle school to high school students
Students taking Pre-Calculus 8–11, and especially Pre-Calculus 11
Students who want extra help with homework, test preparation, or understanding core concepts
