About Jessica

I’m a dedicated law tutor with a practical and student-centered approach to teaching. I specialize in breaking down complex legal concepts into clear, manageable parts and helping students apply them through case analysis, problem-solving, and exam-focused techniques. My lessons are structured, interactive, and tailored to individual learning needs, supporting students at undergraduate (LLB), GDL, LLM, and A-level stages. With experience in both legal education and practice, I bridge academic theory with real-world legal insight—empowering students to think critically, write effectively, and succeed with confidence.

My teaching method is centered on clarity, critical thinking, and active engagement. I break down complex legal concepts into understandable components using plain language, visual aids (such as mind maps or flowcharts), and case-based discussions. I encourage students to think like lawyers by asking probing questions, exploring alternative arguments, and connecting legal principles to real-world scenarios. I tailor my techniques to each student’s learning style, but I commonly use the following strategies: IRAC (Issue, Rule, Application, Conclusion) method for legal problem-solving Socratic questioning to deepen understanding Past paper analysis and timed writing practice to build exam confidence Case law storytelling to make doctrines memorable Continuous feedback loops to track progress and address gaps A Typical Lesson Plan A standard 60-minute lesson is structured as follows: Review (5–10 mins): Recap of previous content, check on any assigned practice work. Concept Introduction (15–20 mins): Explanation of the topic, illustrated with case law and statutory context. Application Practice (20 mins): Work through a problem question or essay plan together. Exam Focus (5–10 mins): Review of how the topic appears in exams—highlighting pitfalls and examiner expectations. Q&A and Summary (5 mins): Address questions and reinforce take-home points with a summary sheet or flowchart. What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor What distinguishes me is my ability to bridge academic theory with legal practice. As someone with experience in both teaching and legal work, I bring a practical dimension to law that helps students see beyond the textbooks. I’m also known for making students feel at ease—no question is too basic, and every session is a safe space to learn and grow. Moreover, I offer: Bespoke lesson plans tailored to syllabus and student needs Comprehensive feedback on essays and problem questions Support with legal research, referencing, and mooting preparation Mentorship on career pathways in law Who the Lessons Are For My tutoring is primarily aimed at: Undergraduate law students (LLB)—any year GDL/PGDL students—conversion course students needing strong foundational support Postgraduate law students (LLM)—especially those focusing on common law subjects A-Level Law students—building a strong base for university International students—adapting to UK legal methodology and expectations Whether you're aiming for a first-class degree, trying to pass resits, or preparing for vocational training (e.g., SQE, LPC), my lessons are structured to meet you where you are and help you reach your goals with clarity and confidence.
