About the lesson

As an English essay tutor, my approach focuses on building strong writing skills, critical thinking, and confidence in students. Here’s how I typically structure my sessions: 1. Understanding the Assignment I start by breaking down the prompt with the student, ensuring they fully understand the question, required structure, and key objectives. We discuss what the teacher is looking for and how to meet (or exceed) expectations. 2. Brainstorming & Outlining Before writing, I guide the student through brainstorming ideas, gathering evidence, and structuring their argument. We create an outline together to ensure their essay has a logical flow and strong thesis statement. 3. Writing & Revision Techniques I encourage students to draft their essays while focusing on clarity, coherence, and engagement. Then, I teach revision strategies, including: Strengthening arguments Improving sentence structure & transitions Fixing grammar and style issues 4. Personalized Feedback & Growth Instead of just correcting mistakes, I explain why something works or doesn’t, helping students become more independent writers. Over time, they develop a sharper analytical eye and stronger writing habits. My goal is to make essay writing less intimidating and more intuitive so students can tackle any assignment with confidence.
