About Torrance

I have 4+ years experience tutoring a variety of subjects (writing, chemistry, etc.) at Kent State University and through my own freelance work. I also worked a year as an English teacher’s assistant in a French primary school and middle school. I am currently working on my master's in French translation while living in France. I have two Bachelor's degrees in French and Anthropology. I am committed to providing a welcoming learning environment where mistakes are viewed as the main avenue to learning. The fact that I am a very curious person, interested in a variety of topics, makes me an ideal tutor. I share a love of learning with each person I have the opportunity to teach.

About the lesson

I believe in creating a collaborative learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in their own success. My approach is student-centered, meaning I tailor my lessons to your specific needs and learning style. A typical session begins by discussing your needs and current level, followed by practicing through conversation or written exercises. Throughout our lessons I will provide resources relevant to the current lesson. I will end each tutoring session with a study plan for the week, catered to your specific needs. With experience teaching students from primary school all the way to graduate school in university, I can help students at any level succeed.

Torrance m’a donné un très bon cours d’anglais. L’expression orale est très peu encourager en France et avoir des conversations avec une personne native m’aide vraiment à progresser.

Coucou I would recommend Torrance as an English teacher because she is very patient and she was very understanding of all levels of English and really helped me to gain confidence in my skills. My goal has been to pass the TOEFL for to complete my studies in English, and Torrance made it really easy to progress with it. My goal was to pass the TOEFL, and I took it yesterday and got a 96!! Merci professeure ️
