About Luisana
I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with degrees in Computational Mathematics and Earth Science (2022), and earned my Geoscience Master's degree from Virginia Tech (2025). I have tutored college-level math up to multivariable calculus (2020-2021) and received very positive feedback from students—many reached out to me specifically for one-on-one help and guidance. I also taught Geology lab courses (25 students; 2024-2025) and was awarded the 2025 Teaching Award from the Department of Geosciences based on student feedback.
My goal during tutoring is not just to help students work through problems they once struggled with, but to ensure they can explain the steps they're taking in a way that's no longer based on memorization, but rather on reasoning and logic they truly understand.
I am also able to give tutoring in Spanish!

I offer group or individual sessions, both online and in person. I provide fail-safe frameworks for working through problem sets and push students to integrate knowledge in the way that works for THEIR brain. I also incorporate real-life example problems that motivate students to understand math at a deeper, more useful level.
