About Madison
Hello! I’m Madison, a dedicated and passionate tutor with a BA in Psychology from Georgetown University. Over the past eight years, I have had the privilege of guiding a diverse group of students, ranging from elementary school to college undergraduates, helping them achieve academic success and build confidence in their abilities.
My academic journey has been marked by excellence—I graduated from Georgetown with a deep understanding of psychology and excelled in my pre-medical studies. This background not only strengthens my expertise in a broad range of subjects but also enhances my ability to understand and address the unique cognitive and emotional needs of each student I work with.
I believe that effective tutoring extends beyond imparting knowledge; it's about creating a supportive and motivating environment that encourages students to discover their potential and tackle challenges with confidence. Whether we're preparing for a crucial exam or mastering complex concepts, my goal is to make learning a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

Teaching Method and Techniques
As a tutor, my teaching philosophy centers on understanding and adapting to the unique needs and learning styles of each student. I graduated from Georgetown with a BA in psychology, which equips me with a keen understanding of cognitive and educational psychology. This knowledge allows me to apply evidence-based learning strategies, such as spaced repetition, active recall, and the use of analogies to connect new information with existing knowledge. My method involves an initial assessment to identify the student's strengths, weaknesses, and personal interests, followed by a customized learning plan that engages and motivates them.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson plan would include:
Review and Recap: We begin by reviewing previous material, discussing any questions the student might have and reinforcing key concepts.
Introduction of New Material: Depending on the student's progress, we introduce new concepts or skills. This is done through a combination of direct instruction, multimedia resources, and interactive discussions to ensure that the student fully understands the new information.
Hands-On Practice: Students then apply what they've learned through practice problems, case studies, or projects that I carefully design to match their learning level and interests.
Assessment and Feedback: Each session concludes with a mini-assessment to gauge understanding and retention. Immediate, constructive feedback is provided to help the student refine their understanding and approach.
Preview and Assignments: We preview upcoming topics and set goals for the next session. I assign homework that reinforces the day's lessons, tailored to the student's workload and schedule.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What differentiates me as a tutor is my ability to blend academic excellence with real-world applications. Having excelled in all general requirements and science classes while pre-med at Georgetown, I bring a depth of knowledge and a wealth of personal study techniques that have proven successful. Additionally, my extensive experience (over 8 years) tutoring students of various ages allows me to quickly adapt lessons to the appropriate level of challenge. I also focus on building confidence and teaching students how to learn efficiently, which empowers them beyond our sessions.
My lessons are tailored for students from elementary through high school, as well as undergraduate students needing assistance in any subject area. They are particularly beneficial for those preparing for standardized tests like the ACT, students who may be struggling with their coursework, or undergraduates seeking deeper understanding in subjects like psychology and the sciences. Additionally, I specialize in helping students who have had disruptions in their education, such as transitioning back to in-person learning post-pandemic, and those who are interested in strengthening their scientific understanding in preparation for advanced studies or medical school.
