About Ella
I am a student at Edinburgh University (BSc) studying Geography. I have tutored privately and also volunteered with Action Tutoring, a programme aimed to get provide to those who need it most, reducing educational inequalities.
When taking my GCSEs, I has lucky enough to have some amazing tutoring, which hugely improved by grades but also inspired a passion for all the subjects I was studying.
I hope that I can replicate this in any student that I tutor. I think it's extremely important to go beyond the curriculum, adding both extra content and context, so that learning is relevant, exciting and enjoyable.

-I firstly look at the areas that the student finds most difficult, and help them to get a grasp of that area.
Then, working through practice questions, guiding the student but allowing them, to really try to solve it themselves.
I've found this is the most engaging, erwarding and effective way of learning, especially when it comes to exam preparation.
I would also spend some time talking about the topics, the context and the relevance, to make the process interesting and something the student actually wants to do.
-Lessons would be 30 minutes or 1 hour, depending on what the student prefers/how long they can concentrate for. I can also put a break in the middle (not charged), whatever works for the student
-I would usually tutor 11-16 although I can help with IB students, i'm just not that familiar with the A-level or Highers content. I've had experience tutoring all abilities, and can thus adapt to whatever the student needs.
