About Barry

There are two things I always tell my students before we get started. One: I love Science. Science has always been a part of my life. I get excited about Science like people get excited about watching sports. Two: I spent 14 years of my life as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Which means that I don't play. Marines don't fail. We play to win. What I learned from those two experiences gives me the tools that I need to help you become successful in your classes. School is a Game. It is a mental Contest. It's like being in Marine Corps boot camp, yeah it's hard sometimes, but that's how you grow. When we work together I will train you. I will teach how to overcome any academic obstacles. In the 21st century, Science is a tool .Science is an instrument. The knowledge of Science is a weapon. So my job is to teach my "Marines" how to win in the classroom. I will show you how strong you are. In time you will build your confidence. So one day, you will take that test and not only pass....but more importantly, know why you passed. "Enlist" with me when you are ready for the Next step.

About the lesson

Science is so much more than just remembering facts and concepts. Science is everything. There is nothing you can do in your life that does not utilize some aspect of Science. In my Tutoring sessions I make Science fun by showing you how Science is all around you. Everything you want to be...is Science The things you do everyday. Biology is easy when you realize how your body works. Chemistry is like cooking. Once you understand the ingredients and how they work. Chemistry becomes easier, When it's time for you to come to my class, I want you to look forward to it. Like going to the movies. I have taught Science in the Chicago Public School system and my kids were never absent. Why? Because I didn't teach five classes a day. I performed five shows a day. My lessons consist of taking whatever scientific concept your teacher gave you. Or a topic that you are required to learn. and make it fun. With me, I will teach you how to read scientific information, but I will show you How to study the information. How to understand it. And ultimately with my tutoring approach, you will receive nothing less than a "B" on your next exam.

I have degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Gemology. I am a graduate of SUNY at Old Westbury University and Northwestern U. I am a Distinguished International Science teacher, who won the 2022 Congressional Global Teacher of the Year.
