About Paris

I am an experienced Maths tutor with a degree in Mathematics from Lancaster University. I am a Business Analyst in the Financial Services industry, however prior to this I have enjoyed 5 years working in Schools in several different capacities. I prefer to work with only a few select Students at any given time, giving me the opportunity to dedicate greater time and attention into answering Ad hoc questions, planning lessons, finding resources, and providing detailed helpful feedback.

About the lesson

My Ethos! My approach to learning is all about breaking things down into manageable steps, the key is just understanding that everyone has different length legs :D I believe that everyone can grasp any subject. With a bit of determination and a clear plan, you can conquer any challenge, get the hang of it, and replicate it to a high degree. And WHEN that difficult topic finally clicks, it's like unlocking a superpower that boosts students' confidence in all arenas! Mastery of Mathematical Principles isn't only an academic endeavour- Being able to directly confront new challenges, to overcome difficult feelings, to implement rationality and logic in the face of yours and others' emotions, to withstand rejection time and time again with the assurance and optimism that you will eventually succeed, are all qualities that will follow students throughout their lives. And all qualities that will be learned here! What to expect from me? Organised lessons, reliable communication, prompt responses. Structured sessions, tailored topics, and strategic plans for addressing challenges. Marking homework ahead of the next lesson so feedback can be given without taking up our private tuition time. Email access to support and provide feedback between lessons to keep momentum should something be too difficult in the interim. A typical session will involve either: -A light opener to get our minds engaged and ready to learn. -Working through past paper questions to help identify weaknesses so we know where to focus our attention, then targeting those areas in order to help students approach exams with confidence, maturely handling whatever may be thrown at them. -Equally I can provide students with lessons on a specific topic to introduce them to new subject matter where appropriate. Note: Although the focus is on understanding and improving the students' Mathematics skills, exam technique is consistently reinforced throughout our time sessions so it will be second nature come exam time. What Software do I use? We will use three platforms for Learning. Lessons will take place on Zoom, supplemented by Bitpaper, a premium web-based interactive whiteboard. Bitpaper enhances lessons by facilitating real-time collaboration, making them significantly more engaging and productive allowing students to be involved as Maths requires hands-on practice. Additionally, we will use Google Sheets for analysis and tracking results/weakness.
