About Iliya

Hi, I’m an Electrical Engineering foundation year student with a strong passion for maths. I’m currently teaching GCSE Maths to students from Year 7 to Year 11, helping them build confidence, improve understanding, and achieve their goals.

I grew up with a keen interest in maths and problem-solving. I enjoyed figuring out why methods worked, not just memorising formulae, and that curiosity is what led me towards engineering. However, I also understand how frustrating maths can feel when topics aren’t explained clearly or when confidence drops.

That’s why I want to teach. I aim to support students who may feel stuck, unsure, or convinced they “just aren’t good at maths.” I’ve been in situations where a small change in explanation made a big difference, and I want to be that support for others.

My lessons focus on clear explanations, modern learning methods, and a positive, can-do attitude. I encourage students to ask questions, make mistakes, and see challenges as part of learning. Maths is not about being naturally gifted — it’s about practice, understanding, and confidence.

My goal is to help students improve their grades while also helping them believe in their own ability to succeed in maths.

About the lesson

I am a GCSE Maths tutor teaching students from Year 7 through to Year 11. As an Electrical Engineering foundation year student, I use structured, logical problem-solving methods that help students truly understand maths rather than memorise steps.

I believe maths is a skill that anyone can improve with the right approach. Many students struggle not because they “aren’t good at maths,” but because they haven’t been taught in a way that suits how they think. My teaching focuses on breaking topics down into simple, clear ideas and rebuilding confidence step by step.

I use modern teaching methods, including visual explanations, real-world examples, and exam-style practice, to make lessons engaging and relevant. I encourage students to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn from them in a supportive environment.

Most importantly, I help students develop a can-do attitude towards maths. By celebrating progress, setting achievable goals, and reinforcing problem-solving strategies, I help students gain confidence and approach maths with a positive mindset.

My aim is not just to help students improve their grades, but to help them believe in their ability to succeed in maths
