About Jaya
Teaching has always come naturally to me — even as a child, classmates and juniors would come to me for explanations, and I enjoyed breaking things down until they made sense. That habit carried through to a Master's in Computer Science and teaching computing, before I moved into software development. I later founded CICET, an 11+ exam preparation platform, where I've built curriculum and taught primary-age children directly — alongside a career as a Senior Software Engineer, most recently at Cubic Transportation Systems on TfL's contactless payment systems. I know exactly where students tend to lose marks, and I focus lessons on closing those specific gaps more than generic revision.

I tailor 1-to-1 lessons to two distinct stages. For 11+, we start with a diagnostic-style mock test to see exactly where marks are being lost, then build a focused plan around arithmetic and problem-solving technique, using engaging materials I've developed through my own tuition platform. For GCSE Maths, lessons follow the same diagnose-then-target approach — working through algebra, geometry, statistics, and past papers, with a strong focus on exam technique and the mistakes that cost the most marks. Since Maths is a practical subject, I also use hands-on kits to explain concepts rather than relying purely on paper and equations.
I also run small group classes for 11+ Maths, with a GCSE group planned as interest builds. Group sessions work through exam-style questions together, with explanations given as needed whenever a student is stuck, and I check understanding by going round the group so every child gets a turn to answer and everyone can see the concept has landed.
