About Oliver

“I remember I used to hate maths and found it the most boring subject in the world. However, thanks to my teacher, I began to be more curious about the subject ... From then on, learning maths became easy and enjoyable.” My name is Oliver and I believe the most important quality of a tutor is not just to act as a resource for help but to inspire students to learn and enjoy the learning process. Maths is a subject about exploration, curiosity and problem solving. Over a period of 2 years, I went from bottom set to top set Maths as I began to become more curious and discover the interesting side of the subject that is rarely shown in the classroom. My aim is to help you discover a curiosity for Maths so you can start to enjoy the subject and make reaching your dream grades possible.

About the lesson

I recently completed 10 grade 9 GCSEs at Hampton Boys’ School so I understand the challenges and pitfalls. I can pass on top revision tips and strategies and simplify complex concepts in maths. Achieving the top grades in maths doesn’t come from cramming but requires a deeper understanding of the subject. I can guide you through any challenging topics including Trigonometry, Algebra, Matrices and Statistics. Teachers often gloss over concepts without taking the time to check you understand them and instead focus on the memorisation of formulae and theorems. My role is to make sure you have a firm grasp on all the topics and I teach the AQA, EDEXCEL (I)GCSE and OCR syllabuses. Our first lesson is a 30 minute introductory session where we will set out our tutoring goals and ensure my tutoring is a good fit for you. From then on, we will continue with regular 1 hour sessions which are structured to help guide you through the GCSE topics. I will give short assessments at times to review previous topics but I do not give long, unnecessary homework as I believe these are not beneficial to your learning.

He really helps the student understand maths in areas where they were very weak In. This is because instead of getting frustrated with the student he tries to adapt his teaching to find a new way in which to help them learn the parts of maths they struggle with.
