About Natalie
Hi, I’m a qualified English Language and Literature tutor with 18 years of classroom experience and a PGCE in Secondary Education. I’ve worked with learners of all ages—from primary pupils building their reading skills to GCSE students aiming for exam success, including those with SEND. My lessons are calm, supportive, and tailored to each student. I focus on building confidence as well as skills, helping learners feel comfortable, capable, and motivated. My Approach to Tutoring As a specialist in English Language and Literature with 18 years of classroom experience and a PGCE in Secondary Education, I create engaging, personalised lessons that build confidence and boost achievement. My teaching approach is student-centred and adaptable—I use a range of proven techniques including guided reading, modelling, structured writing support, and targeted questioning to develop analytical thinking and expressive writing. I also incorporate public speaking skills to improve verbal communication and self-assurance. Each lesson typically lasts 60 minutes and follows a clear structure: a warm-up activity, focused teaching, independent practice, and personalised feedback. I regularly assess progress and adjust the pace and content to meet each learner’s needs, including those with SEND, drawing on my experience in specialist provisions. I work with a wide range of learners: Primary school children to develop core reading and literacy skills in a fun, confidence-building environment. Key Stage 3 & 4 students (ages 11–16) preparing for English Language and Literature GCSEs. Older learners needing support with exam resits or improving communication skills. Whether your child is just starting their reading journey or aiming for top GCSE grades, my goal is to make learning accessible, enjoyable, and effective.
